We took a little ride to Cooperstown to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame on Monday. Ashley's class is currently on the subject of segregation and Jackie Robinson and Satchel Paige figure prominently in their studies. She asked us to do a FaceTime from their plaques with the class. First step-learn how to Face Time- Second Step-study up on Jackie Robinson and Satchel Paige- Third Step-Get there and figure it all out.
While we were waiting for the call to come, Eric ran into Johnny Bench, the Hall of Fame catcher from the Cincinatti Reds. He asked if he would mind doing the intro for her class. He did a great job and boy were the kids impressed! What a very nice man-Thank you Mr. Bench for making a bunch of 10 year olds (and a 27 year old teacher) happy!

The FaceTime went well and we will be doing more of them as we head into areas that and events that match her curriculum. It was fun for us and for the kids!
The Baseball Hall of Fame is located in the middle of nowhere and brings folks in from everywhere to the area. It was dedicated in 1939 and is dedicated to the history of baseball and displays artifacts and exhibits. The Museum and Hall was the brainchild of Stephen Clark, the owner of a local hotel. He wanted to bring tourists to an area hurt by the Depression and Prohibition which devastated the local hops industry.
