Temps in the wonderful 70's
After a brief overnight stay in Cold Brook, NY we continued east to Vermont. The campground we stayed in had no cell phone service, no internet and our mifi wouldn't work of course. We were trying to plan our route and the navigator kept trying to get us to take the ferry across Lake Champlain instead of the bridge. Further investigation was needed as there must be a reason as to why. We trekked up to the office to research the bridge. All looked fine as there is a new bridge that was just recently completed. Up and through the Adirondacks for a beautiful day's drive.

We made it to Vermont! |
After a quick set up, we headed over to my Aunt's for a backyard BBQ. It was nice to sit and visit with family. I hadn't seen them in a million years it seemed and I got to meet my cousin's two boys. What nice boys they are. They were fun to be around.
Monday my Aunt, her cute Grandson, and I headed over the Shelbourne Museum. My mission was to view all the old quilts hand sewn and quilted in the 1830-1850's. Beautiful! Mission completed. Kevin was our tour guide and he loved the Ticonderoga, an old refurbished steam ship. I would have loved to take this ship on Lake Champlain.

The Shelburne Museum is well worth the $22. entry fee and you could spend a couple of days there if you looked at everything.
The next day we took off on the circle tour of tourist attractions. First stop was...
Nothing quite like ice cream early in the morning!

Flavors that just didn't make it |
|

And of course you have to have a scoop! |
The next stop is a drive through Montpelier. It was a quick little drive through with small streets and people everywhere.
|
The Capitol |
|
Cool old houses |
|
Looks like a Halloween house |
On to Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks. A brief video in the Woodshed Theatre and a stop in the sugar house show how the syrup is taken from the maple trees and cooked until it becomes syrup. Now days the trees are tapped and tubing is ran directly to the vats. Sugarin' time is March/April. We tasted the different grades of syrup and of course bought some! I enjoyed a tasty treat of a maple cremee. Yummy.
On to the next stop.....

We made it home around 6 too pooped to cook dinner. A couple of times around the campground was required to work off all that dairy!
Next Stop is Maine!
Yeah you made it to Vermont and I thought you will be leaf peeping there. Wasn't Shelbourne Museum something? It was quite a collection and took us the entire day to look around. Glad you enjoyed it.
