Where have we been hiding?

Coburg, OR
temp 90 sunny

Whew, again I have to ask-"Where did the time go?".  July flew by like a kite in the coastal wind.

After the kids left, the resort was wrapped up in getting things ready for owners week.  That meant finishing the clean out of the old stuff, finishing the painting, and working on the old overgrown trail to the beach.  What an amazing group of volunteers at Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort!  Owners week was a whirlwind of activities starting with a wine and cheese reception.  Eric and I did the poring of three cases of wine in an hour.  These folks can drink the vino!  The cheese and crackers were very good and not much was left after the event.  We had a Jazz trio less one so it was a great event!

Tuesday night was a Beach Bonfire with tamales and s'mores of course.

Wednesday morning brought us rain and a craft show.  I was surprised at the amount of creativity and talent in our little resort.  We were tired of the full social calendar by Wednesday so we missed the DJ BYOB event that evening and the chili-cookoff/Ice cream social on Thursday.  Word was that the cook off was a hit and the ice cream ran out.

Friday morning was the MS walk-a-thin around the resort and we raised over $1,000 for the worthy cause.  We took a couple of laps around the resort which each lap is 1.9 miles if you do every street.  Later in the day was the Pet Parade.  Gidget wore her little pink halter and a pink party hat.  She looked cute, but I don't think she enjoyed being with all the other dogs much.

Friday night was the little play and Saturdays annual meeting went without a hitch.  The dinner was little chaotic, and the BBQ was not my cup of tea, but the entertainment was good.  Bayley Jordan is a young local singer with a great strong voice.  By the end of the evening I was glad the week was over.

I love being on the beach!

The weather was perfect for a bonfire

We have met several nice people at the resort over the past couple of weeks and they all just purchased lots on our little street and corner.  We have spent great times with Peter and Carla, Jim and Gerree, Steve and Tom, Carol and Henry and Linda and Barb.  We are all looking forward to next summer and I think I will need to stock up on wine and get a border assortment of appetizer ideas!
always a wonderful desert is involved

The Lincoln County Fair came to town.  I have never been to a small town fair and loved the 4-H club's displays of fabric and fiber works and the livestock showings.  Other than that, there wasn't much to do.  We skipped the Fried Bread and cotton candy booths and of course the carnival.  We stretched our time to an hour.

The annual Quilts by the Sea show was held in Newport on Aug. 1 and 2nd.  I dragged Eric along (actually he came along willingly and took care of some business in the hallway).  I spent a couple of hours browsing all the entries and longed to have room to make one of these fabulous creations.  I ran into a fellow quilter from the resort and she let me know she was advising the Board that the quilters wanted the second floor of the clubhouse.  WooHoo!  Big cutting tables, big tables for sewing and lockers to store supplies!  I am now dreaming of a fifty states quilt.

We left Newport today for our first stop on our cross country trip.  We traveled a short distance to Coburg to RV Glass to get a replacement window installed in our bath.  The original one fogged up badly and was not repairable.  We are staying in the gated Marathon Coach parking lot.  There are a few of these multimillion dollar coaches here for service and repairs and we definitely look like the less fortunate cousins of Chevy Chase.  These coaches are beautiful. When we asked if we could stay here overnight, maybe they thought we would buy one.  Not in this lifetime!

chilling watching the Hall of Fame game

Anyway, after this we are heading to Fall River to see my Mom and Dad for a day or so, then off to Salt Lake City for a Paul McCartney concert!  I am really excited for the concert and to see Ashley.  I have lots of work to do there as she needs Wizard of Oz costumes for her and her dogs.  She also has a new classroom this year and we have lots of creative cool ideas for the room to do before school starts.  After that on the 21st, we head off to the Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore.

I am going to miss the ocean and the cool breezes and all the neat people we met this summer.  It was bittersweet walking around this morning not saying Goodbye, but "so long see you next year".

Home Sweet Home

Our lot looks empty without the chairs, pots and decorations

  1. We had a personalize tour at the marathon plant despite telling them we had no plans of buying one.
If you like quilts or make quilts my recent post just might interest you.
I would be interested in looking at your planned fifty states quilt.
